Harmony Dental Care in West Covina accepts Denti-Cal and welcomes adults and children who have Denti-Cal dental benefits. This page explains what to expect, how we check your benefits, and how to book your first visit.

What is a Denti-Cal dentist?

A Denti-Cal dentist is a dental office that accepts Denti-Cal, the dental benefit program used by eligible patients in California. Denti-Cal dentists see patients for routine care, treatment of cavities and other problems, and children’s dental visits, within the rules of the program.

At Harmony Dental Care, our team is set up to work with Denti-Cal every day. We verify eligibility, handle prior authorizations when a treatment needs one, and submit claims for you. That means you can spend your visit focused on your teeth and gums rather than on forms.

Who can use Denti-Cal at Harmony Dental Care?

Denti-Cal is for eligible members. Whether you qualify depends on your own situation and on the rules that apply to your benefits, so the best way to know is to let our front desk check. We see adults and children, and we welcome children on Denti-Cal starting at five years old.

Families from La Puente, Valinda, Covina, Baldwin Park, South San Jose Hills, and other parts of the San Gabriel Valley visit our West Covina office. If you are a parent, you can often schedule visits for your children and yourself in the same office.

What to expect at your first visit

Before your first appointment, our team checks your eligibility with your plan so we can tell you what your benefits may cover. Benefits depend on your own plan, and the check helps us avoid surprises. We will explain what the check finds, including any limits or steps that apply to your care.

At your visit, your dentist will examine your teeth, gums, and bite and talk with you about what they find. Our office uses 3D digital X-rays, digital scanners, and digital impressions, so you can often see images of your teeth on screen while your dentist explains them. If your dentist recommends treatment that needs prior authorization from Denti-Cal, our team starts that process and tells you how long it may take before treatment can begin.

We use local anesthetic when treatment needs it. Our chairs come with numbing gel, warm blankets, and noise-canceling headphones if you would like them. If you feel nervous, tell the team before the visit starts so they can help you feel more comfortable.

For children, early visits are short and focused on getting to know the dental office. Our team keeps the visit simple and friendly, and parents are welcome to stay with their child.

Dental services for Denti-Cal patients

Our office provides a full range of dental care in one location, so most families can have their needs met without being sent elsewhere. Denti-Cal patients may receive:

  • Routine exams and professional cleanings
  • Digital X-rays and exams to check for cavities and gum problems
  • Tooth-colored fillings
  • Crowns, including same-day crowns made with CEREC milling
  • Root canal treatment
  • Tooth extractions
  • Dental care for children, starting at five years old

Which of these services a Denti-Cal patient can receive, and how often, depends on the patient’s plan and on what your dentist finds during your visit. Your dentist will explain your options, what each one involves, and what your plan may cover before any treatment begins.

If you have a tooth that hurts or a problem that will not wait, call our front desk at (626) 858-3305 during office hours. Our team will help you find the earliest appointment we have available for your needs.

Does Harmony Dental Care take Denti-Cal and Medi-Cal?

Yes. Harmony Dental Care accepts Denti-Cal, Medi-Cal, and CalOptima, along with PPO and Indemnity plans, Smile California, and most major dental insurance plans. If you are not sure whether your plan is on this list, call the front desk and ask. We will check it for you before your visit.

Many patients use Medi-Cal and Denti-Cal dental benefits together with our office. Our billing team processes these claims and works directly with the programs, so you do not have to file paperwork on your own.

If you come to us with a plan we do not list, we still encourage you to call. Our team can check your benefits and explain your options.

Cost, insurance, and payment

What you pay depends on your plan and on the treatment you need. Benefits depend on the patient’s own plan, which is why we check your eligibility and explain your coverage before your visit. We do not guess what your plan will pay.

For patients who do not have dental insurance, we offer a $59 New Patient Special. It includes a comprehensive exam, digital X-rays, and a professional cleaning for new patients without insurance.

For elective and larger treatment, we offer flexible financing with affordable monthly payment plans. Payment options include CareCredit, Sunbit, Alpheon, credit cards, and our in-house membership plan. Ask about these options during your visit so you can choose what fits your budget.

Recovery and aftercare

How long recovery takes depends on the treatment. After a filling, most patients can return to normal eating and activities soon after the visit, though the numbness from anesthetic may last for a while. After an extraction or a root canal, your dentist will give you written instructions on eating, pain control, and when to call the office. After a crown, your dentist will explain how to care for the new tooth and when to come back for a check.

If you have pain, swelling, bleeding that does not stop, or any other concern after treatment, call the office at (626) 858-3305 during business hours. For a serious emergency, go to the nearest emergency room.

Why patients choose Harmony Dental Care

Our team is led by Dr. Nguyen, a DMD, and Dr. Khaef, a dentist. Both are committed to continuing education and to keeping up with dental technology and techniques. Our team also has experience in implant dentistry, cosmetic work, restorative care, periodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.

We treat every patient the same way, regardless of insurance type. Our materials, technology, and attention do not change based on how you pay. We have served West Covina and the surrounding communities for 20 years, and our patients often tell us that the front desk remembers their names and asks about their families.

Our office has 3D CBCT imaging, iTero digital scanning, and CEREC same-day crown milling. We also offer laser dentistry for some treatments. Your dentist will recommend the tools that fit your care, and will explain why.

We welcome new patients of all ages. If you are new to our office, you can ask about the $59 New Patient Special, which includes an exam, digital X-rays, and a cleaning for new patients without insurance.
