The cost of Lumineers depends mostly on how many teeth you want to change and the condition of those teeth. A few teeth with small chips or gaps is a different plan from a whole new smile. At Harmony Dental Care in West Covina, Dr. Khaef examines your teeth, talks through your goals, and explains the fees for your plan before any treatment starts.
What are Lumineers?
Lumineers are ultra-thin porcelain veneers, about as thin as a contact lens, bonded to the front of your teeth to improve their color, shape and spacing. They are made in a dental lab from digital impressions of your teeth, using a patented porcelain called Cerinate.
The main difference from traditional veneers is preparation. Lumineers are typically placed with no drilling, no enamel removal and no shots, so your natural tooth stays in place.
Why does the cost of Lumineers vary?
Lumineers are planned tooth by tooth, so the total depends on your own smile. The main things that change the fee are:
- How many teeth you treat. Some people want one or two teeth fixed. Others want every tooth that shows when they smile.
- The condition of the teeth. Lumineers suit teeth that are healthy. Teeth with large fillings, cracks or heavy wear may need a crown or another treatment first.
- Your gums and bite. Healthy gums and a stable bite come first, so any gum problems are treated before Lumineers are made.
- Which option fits you. Harmony Dental Care also offers traditional porcelain veneers, dental bonding and tooth-colored restorations. Each one is made differently and costs a different amount.
Lumineers, veneers or bonding?
All three can change how your smile looks. Lumineers usually need no drilling or numbing and can be removed later because your tooth is left in place. Traditional porcelain veneers are thicker and usually need some enamel removed. Bonding is a tooth-colored material shaped right on the tooth and can often be finished in one visit. Dr. Khaef compares them for your teeth, your bite and your goals, and explains the difference in fees.
Does insurance help pay for Lumineers?
Lumineers are usually a cosmetic treatment, and many dental plans treat cosmetic work differently from repairs. What your plan pays depends on your own plan. Harmony Dental Care accepts PPO and Indemnity plans, Medi-Cal, Denti-Cal, Smile California, CalOptima and most major dental insurance plans, and the team can look at your benefits with you.
What payment options are there?
The office offers flexible financing and affordable monthly payment plans for elective and major procedures, so you can spread the cost of Lumineers over time.
